"To lend to those less fortunate a helping hand"
Phi Mu's National philanthropy is Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and throughout the school year, we host events to raise money and gain support for this organization. These events include Phi Hop and a Chipotle fundraiser. Phi Hop is an annual event where Sisters sell tickets for $3 each and make pancakes on campus from 10 PM to 2 AM on a designated day of the week during Philanthropy Week. We also partner with the Chipotle on South Kings Boulevard to raise money for CMNH. From 5 PM to 9 PM, 50% of the proceeds of the night are donated when a customer mentions our Chapter or the fundraiser event!
In 2016, we were able to host a monkey named Jorge on campus during Spring Carnival where for $3 the community was able to take a picture with him as he sat on their shoulder! With the help of Jorge, we were able to raise over $400 for CMNH!
In 2017, we were able to hold a Puppy Kissing Booth during Spring Carnival, where students, staff, and faculty, as well as members of the community, were able to snuggle, hug and give love to a small puppy for a donation. With the help of five, small dogs we were able to raise over $200 for CMNH!
In the fall of 2017, our Philanthropy Chair planned and executed Philanthropy Week, a series of events to raise money for CMNH. Over the course of five days, we raised over $700!
Our chapter is lucky enough to see the results of CMNH through the Levine's Children's Hospital which is just minutes away from campus. We have hospital visits, which in the past have consisted of talking and interacting with the children and their parents, as well as making crafts. This provides each of our sisters the blessing to see our hard work pay off and be able to light up someone's day, even if it is just for a moment.
